Nar Phu Valley Trek

Day to Day Itinerary

• Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

  On arrival at Kathmandu and at Nepal international airport, received by our Boundless staff and representative or guide, for short transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city around Thamel. Thamel the an interesting and exciting area of the city, after checking into your rooms, then join at the lobby for group briefing provides you with trekking and other necessary information. Include group welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese authentic restaurant with local culture of folk musical program to entertain along with dinner.

• Day 02: Morning tour around Kathmandu at places of interest.

  Morning at the hotel having breakfast then leave for interesting sightseeing tour around Kathmandu famous world heritage sites, with time in afternoon preparation for trek.

• Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syange 1,140 m via Besisar 780 m - 06 hrs.

  Morning starts with interesting long drive to reach Lamjung district around Nepal mid west, and at Besisar, a major headquarter town of the area, as drive continues on dirt road past Khudi, Bulbule and Ngadi following the Marysangdi River upstream, drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to Syange stopping here for overnight in this small farm village with views of waterfalls and fast flowing Marysangdi River.

• Day 04: Trek to Dharapani 1,860 m -06 hrs.

  Start the morning with steep climb to Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers, as walk leads past Chamje on slow winding trail and crossing river on the other side filled with cool forest shade. Walk continues on nice path with climb to reach a wide valley at Tal-Besi entering Manang district from here onward then reaching Dharapani for overnight in a large village where trails of Manaslu and Annapurna circuit joins.

• Day 05: Trek to Kotto village 2,580 m - 05 hrs.

  Walk from Dharapani on nice winding path in the shade of rhododendron and pine forest that leads to Bagarchap and Danque villages around apple field area, from here climb for short while to reach Timang village facing views of Mt. Manaslu and Lamjung Himal. From Timang village few hours walks to Koto village for overnight stop which is close to large town of Chame a major town and headquarter of Manang district.

• Day 06: Trek to Dharmasala 3,230 m - 05 hrs.

  Trek leads to narrow valley within forest of pines and rhododendron trees, then reaching nice pasture fields with huts and sheds of Yak herders and in the gorge formed by Pisang Peak and Kang-guru Himal lower basin, walk continues following Nar-Phu River upstream to reach at Dharmashala for overnight stop.

• Day 07: Trek to Kyang 3,010 m - 05 hrs.

  Morning walk leads north to Phu village within isolated area and dry landscape as walk continues to Kyang for overnight stop after an interesting day, Kyang with dozen well built houses of similar Tibetan culture.

• Day 08: Trek to Phu village 4,080 m - 06 hrs.

  Trek today takes you to one of our major highlight destination at Phu village walk continues following Phu River for some time and then climb to reach a gorge for few hours then reaching a wide glacial valley with pasture lands at Phu village of strong Tibetan influence culture, traditions and religion.

• Day 09: Rest day in Phu village for acclimatization and short exploration.

  Rest day at Phu for acclimatization, explore impressive village and Tashilkhang with Samdu Choling Monasteries and Kyauchyu waterfalls, Phu Village.

• Day 10: Trek to Nar Phedi 3, 545 m - 06 hrs.

  From Phu village walk on the same trail back taking few hours where descend reaches you to a narrow gorge of Phu khola, from here slow climb to reach Yughat, a small village with a chhorten (Buddhist shrines), and then reach a flat field at Nar Phedi for overnight stop.

• Day 11: Trek to Nar-Gaon 4,206 m - 06 hrs.

  Morning to Phu Khola a walk of few hours where route leads to cross a suspension bridge over Phu Khola, after the bridge a steep climb for few hours then reaching a flat area and walk to Nar village for overnight. Nar an interesting village but quite small to Phu of same type traditional houses with strong touch of Tibetan culture and way of life.

• Day 12: Trek to Kang La Base Camp 4,530 m - 05 hrs.

  After Nar village walk towards in one of remotest area of Himalaya, but an interesting walk of few hours with short ups and downs encountering rocky path, past cattle herders shelters heading further west following Temdenzong stream facing views of peaks to reach at the base of Kang la pass for overnight camp at above 4,530 m high.

• Day 13: Cross Kang-La Pass 5, 322 m trek to Ngawal 3,650 m - 07 hrs.

  Starts early morning to cross over Kang-la located above 5,322 m, where climb continues higher on steep slope facing view of Pisang Peak and Chulu Far East Peak, and then reaching on top of Kang-la, offers glorious vista of Annapurna range of mountains, Chulu Peaks, Lamjung Himal and adjoining peak range. Walk from here on steep descend to Ngawal past Julu village for overnight stop, which is around and close to Manang village as well heading back on the main route of Annapurna circuit trail.

• Day 14: Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m - 05 hrs.

  From here within scenic beautiful Manang valley with close views of Annapurna II, A III and A IV includes Chulus peaks towards north high above the valley with Pisang peak, descend towards Hongde or Braga village. As walk proceed reaching Braga village with visit of old Braga monastery treasure with interesting Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting, frescos overlooking views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk to Manang village.

• Day 15: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m - 04 hrs.

  From Manang walk lead further to reach Yak Kharka as walks follows past scattered farm and villages with close views of Chulu West then reaching at a wide valley where Yak Kharka located facing Gangapurna, Tilicho peaks in the south with Chulu West towards north direction.

• Day 16: Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs.

  Morning starts to reach at the end of Manang valley at the base of Thorang-la after crossing a short bridge with climb that leads high above Jarjung stream to reach at Thorang Phedi or a base, from here steep climb for an hour to our overnight stop at Thorang High Camp.

• Day 17: Trek to Muktinath 3,800 crossing Thorang-La Pass 5,416 m- 06 hrs.

  Our main adventure and highlight start this morning, after having early breakfast where walk heads with steep climb on winding up within barren landscape to reach on top Thorang-la Pass at 5,416 m high, on the highest spot of the adventure. The high top rewards you with grand vista of beautiful scenery facing dramatic landscape and snowcapped peaks, then long downhill to Muktinath at 3,800 m. On reaching at Muktinath village and temple area for overnight stop, this is a holy pilgrimage spot for both Hindu and Buddhist followers where the word Muktinath means ‘a place for Nirvana and to liberate one-self’.

• Day 18: Drive to Jomsom 2,715 m -02 hrs.

  Today walk ends here at Muktinath, as motorable road has been built that links Jomsom and beyond to Pokhara city, morning on four-wheel drive, local jeep or similar vehicle, head downhill to wide Kaligandaki River valley. As drive brings you at large major town of Mustang district in Jomsom, after checking into your nice hotel rooms having lunch, afternoon at leisure to browse around the street and shops at Jomsom the home town of indigenous Thakali people.

• Day 19: Short flight from Jomsom to Pokhara and transfer to hotel.

  Morning transfer to Jomsom airport where flight runs before afternoon, due to heavy winds which is common around this dry country similar to Tibetan landscapes. From Jomsom during air-borne enjoy fantastic views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri’s, Annapurna Himalaya including towering Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’ peak as small aircraft makes landing at Pokhara airport. A short drive reaches you to a nice hotels at beautiful city are of Pokhara by the Phewa Lake side, after a most enjoyable and scenic time around Tilicho Lake and Semi Annapurna Circuit Trekking.

• Day 20: Drive / Fly to Kathmandu - 06 hrs.

  Morning overland journey to Kathmandu after leaving the hotel in Pokhara, as drive leads on the same interesting highway back at Kathmandu and then to your respective hotels, with afternoon free to enjoy your own personal activities and shopping. (Options for scenic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu of 30 minutes)

• Day 21: International Departure homeward bound.

  Enjoying marvelous time around high hills of Annapurna Himalaya, and with last day in Nepal after a great experience on Nar-Phu and Semi Annapurna Circuit trek, as time for your international flight depart from the hotel, where Boundless Adventure staff transfer you to the airport for your flight homeward bound or to respective countries.
