Introduction

Manaslu Circuit trekking a marvelous and exciting adventure where walks takes you around Manaslu visiting both sides of world 8th highest peak Mt. Manaslu and its massive range that includes Bouddha and Himal-Chuli peaks.

At one time a hidden and forbidden country for outside visitors and opened up its door since last three decades, but still remains as a restricted area to travel where special permit has to be obtained for Manaslu Circuit trekking.

An enjoyable adventure walking from low-warm sub-tropical heavily cultivated farm areas of Gorkha district located Nepal Mid-West region, a long and interesting drive reaches you to begin the trek from a farm village of Soti-Khola.

Walk follows upstream of raging Bhuri-Gandaki River that leads near to its glacial source around high Manaslu valley, route climbs from low warm farm areas and into alpine forest and hill villages as air get cooler as journey progress further.

Trek lead past many nice farm areas and rural villages with opportunity to observe different hill Nepalese people with mixed varied cultures and custom, as walk takes you higher coming into more strong Buddhism religion country on reaching high and scenic Manaslu valley.

Where one can feel the great contrast from low-mid hills to higher villages with different heritage custom and landscapes as it changes as walk reaches you closer into mountainous area, facing fabulous views of Manaslu range with massif Ganesh Himal in the east horizon.

Adventure continues around high Manaslu valley with amazing beautiful scenery of peaks and green high hills to reach a large village at Sama-Gaon and main hub of Manaslu people as you can notice the locals of strong Tibetan origin.

Manaslu Valley also falls on Old Trans-Himalaya Salt and Caravan route of Nepal to Tibet where trade was active past 50 years, at present trade still exists in smaller number, at Sama-Gaon having rest days before climb over high Larke-La pass.

After Sama-Gaon then reach the last village of Gorkha and high Manaslu valley at Samdo and then head west to the bottom of Larke-la at a place called Phedi or Dharma-Sala for overnight stop where next early morning a steep climb takes you on the highest top at Larke-la.

Larke-La on the tallest spot of the adventure at above 5,160 m rewards with spectacular panorama of high snow capped mountains covers whole of Manaslu includes Annapurna peaks with Mt. Himlung towards Nar-Phu area.

From the high pass long descend to reach the base and back into lovely cool forested area on reaching Manang district at Bhimthang where long descend reaches you Dharapani village located on a road-head, and in the junction of Manaslu and Annapurna circuit trail.

Season for Manaslu Circuit Trekking:

March to May and September to early November months from spring and autumn / fall seasons, best months and high season from March to May when days are longer with much sunlight hours clear morning till late afternoon, chances of light shower and snow on mid hills above 2,000 m high.

In spring season, hills are alive with bright colors from wild-flowers in full bloom especially the rhododendron of various species from tall trees to bush, also a national flower of Nepal.

Another peak times to visit from mid September to early November months when days are clear for mountain views and pleasant walks, much shorter sun-light hours due to autumn / fall season.

Freezing cold temperature in the morning and night times above 1,800 meters higher can expect snow above 2,500 m onward.
