Introduction

Tent Peak also locally known as Tharpu Chuli, located Nepal North Mid-West within beautiful
Annapurna Sanctuary and beyond base camp towards hidden corners and away from
Annapurna base camp.

The peak looking from Annapurna Sanctuary and base camp appears of Tent shape hence the
name was christened as Tent, while the native knows as Tharpu Chuli a rocky top peak to face
leads to high technical effort from the start of climb to the top of the summit at the height of
5,663 meters and 18,575 ft high.

Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli been climbed since 1964 and still remains as one of popular and
classic peak to climb that lead to tremendous tough skill on most sections truly a great lesser
mountains for veteran and expert climbers to challenge.

Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli Climbing begins from scenic and lovely city at Pokhara blessed with
natural beauty of high mountains and simmering lakes, where walk takes you from low warm
paddy fields to reach at cooler Himalayan Hills.

A nice walk and climb over rolling green hills covered within tall rhododendron and pine trees
makes an attractive picture against white snow capped peaks when flowers are in bloom during
spring time.

Walk through nice Gurung villages the main tribes of Annapurna region practice Buddhism and
their ancient culture of Bon as well worshipping mountains and green forest spirits, an
interesting to witness the local traditions and custom.

As journey progress leaving the last village of Chomrong where onwards are just temporary
settlement all the way to Annapurna base camp to cater the needs of trekkers offering nice and
cozy lodges.

Adventure takes you within raging Modi River and the gorge covered within dense woods as
walk follows the river upstream right up to its glacial source around Annapurna Sanctuary and
base camp.

Annapurna Sanctuary comes as a surprise on entering a high wide valley and a plateau
surrounded by amphitheatre of high snow capped peaks then heading to Annapurna base camp
at the foot of world tenth high Mt. Annapurna, the one and only 8,000 m mountains first
climbed way back in 1950, three years before Mt. Everest was conquered in 1953.

Enjoy time at Annapurna base camp in the midst of high peaks with views of Tent Peak towards
North East direction, from Annapurna base camp our route leads beyond from main sanctuary
to reach beneath Tent Peak or Tharpu Chuli.

Allowing much time with rest days for acclimatization and practice climb adding one more extra
high camp then head for a long haul facing tremendous technical skill and effort over moraine,
ice, snow and rocky section to reach finally on top of Tent Peak.

At the top incredible panorama of mountain range of whole Annapurna peaks with Dhaulagiri in
the west with Manaslu towards east horizon, feeling on top and high spirit descend safely back
to base camp and towards sanctuary for return journey back to Pokhara, after an overwhelming

Season for Tent Peak and Tharpu Chulu Climbing and Treks:

Best time March to May and September till November months of the year from spring-autumn
/ fall, where few adventurers might be interested on low season during summer and monsoon
wet season of June to mid September heavy rains on southern sides of Annapurna Himalaya
range.

March to May when days are longer with much sunlight hours clear morning till late afternoon,
chances of light shower and snow on mid hills above 2,000 m high.

Spring seasons, hills are alive with bright colors from wild-flowers in full blooming time
especially the rhododendron of various species from tall trees to bush, also a national flower of
Nepal.

Another peak times to visit from mid September to November months when days are clear for
mountain views and climbs with pleasant walks, much shorter sun-light hours due to autumn
and winter season.

Freezing cold temperature in the morning and night times above 1,800 meters higher can
expect snow above 2,500 m onward.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Morning sightseeing tour of Kathmandu around places of interest.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara 860 m – 06 hrs.
Day 04: Drive to trekking point and walk to Ghandruk 1,940m – 06 hrs.
Day 05:  Trek to Chomrong 2,170 m – 06 hrs.
Day 06:  Trek to Dovan 2,630 m – 06 hrs.
Day 07:  Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,700 m – 06 hrs.
Day 08:  Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at 4,130 m – 03 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Tent Peak base camp 4,450 m / 14,600 ft – 05 hrs.
Day 10: At Tent Peak base camp acclimatization and preparations.
Day 11: Trek to high camp 5,200 m / 17,056 ft – 05 hrs.
Day 12: Climb Tent Peak and descend to base camp – 08 hrs.
Day 13: Spare / Contingency day in case of unfavorable weather condition.
Day 14: Trek back to Annapurna Base Camp – 05 hrs.
Day 15:  Trek from ABC to Bamboo 2,345 m – 06 hrs
Day 16  Trek to Jhinu village 1,780m with Hot Spring – 06 hrs.
Day 17:  Trek to road head and drive back to Pokhara 860 m – 04 hrs with 3 hrs drive.
Day 18: Drive or Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotels.
Day 19: In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
Day 20: International departure for homeward bound.
